As the subject implies. I finally broke down and bought a 9600XT 128mb
board. Been using Nvidia for years and I am not familiar with ATI's
temp threshold. I currently have it running 543mhz core and 340 mem
(680ddr) with the stock cooler. The temp goes as low as 32C but as
high as 42C under full load. I am just wondering. Where is the danger
zone on these cards..?

Thanks

How do U get your temps.
And what temps are safe for the gpu and memory? I have ATI 9800 with
samsung rated 300

I get my temps from the onboard sensor. I use ATITool to read them. As
far as I know, the XT boards are the only ones with the onboard
sensors. If I am running at default speeds, (500core/300Mem) the temps
stay at 32C which isn't bad. Ambient temp around the card is 25C. But
according to that article pointed out below, 66C is safe but is too
high for me.
