I started using Avast AV (free version) five days ago. It has a nice,
slick interface which is a tad more complicated than AVG Free Edition, which
I had previously used. But Avast has more features too, including the
ability to scan Outlook Express mail, which AVG lacks. Auto-updating also
runs smoother under Avast than with AVG, in my opinion. As a sidenote,
Avast AV also has some neat wav file associations. As far as customer
satisfaction, Avast has an excellent feedback rating at cnet.com:

Have used for two years, recommended and installed on about a dozen other
machines (friends & Family) and had no problems. One false alarm in this
period is acceptable. Updates are small, and it has so far caught all
"dodgy" download that my two daughters try to get on to their PC.

Regarding scanning Outlook Express mail........AVG 7.0 Beta does scan
mail now!
The final release will be here shortly and replaces AVG Free 6.0.
I've tried AVG 7.0 and think it's just a great, fast, light scanner.
You shlould give it a try. I prefer AVG instead of Avast, but that's
personal ofcourse.

Good luck. Putin
