Hello All!

If I'm in the wrong Group, I apologize, and maybe someone could direct
me to the correct one.

I am trying to reconfigure my work area and have found a place for the
CPU that will work nicely. However, the monitor audio and visual
cables won't reach that far. Can I use a connecting cable to elongate
these cables so they will reach the CPU?

Thank you for any help you are able to provide.

Let's see are you in the wrong group...have a look at the group topic and
answer your own question!

You can add extension cables, but will soon find that there is a point
where video will become fuzzy or shadowy, etc.

Or, if your like me(old and blind), you will get to the point that you
can't see it LOL

I've never met a VGA extension cable I didn't hate. Every one I've ever
tried has caused signal loss.

However, I think the possibilities are better with DVI connections if that's
what you happen to have.

Audio should not be an issue as long as you use quality cables.

BTW... yes, this is the wrong newsgroup :)

I've seen cables up to about 8ft long. Maybe you can get a
longer one. Extensions are bad, because of reflections
within the plug, which degrade the signal, or so I
understand it.

I have run my system with a KVM switch, which at least doubles the
video cable length. No problems.

Yes, its the wrong group, but that does not mean we cant be helpful

I haven't heard of USB or wireless monitors yet, but I got some extra distance
with a KVM switch, but there were severe technological landmines getting one
from the store to work with my monitor without strange effects (...try the
Belkin brand, cost me $100 to set that up). The optical mouse in the PS/2 port
also made my screen quite wavy under some conditions, like at 60 hertz. My
computer sits in the corner while my monitor sits on an old rolling TV cart next
to my recliner in front of the TV. I just have to be sure not to trip over the
wires.

I've used 6 ft extension cables on a monitor and it worked but it
really throws out the rf energy. That means your audio equipment
including phones pick up a lot of extra hum and noise and your TV may
have wavy lines running thru it.
