How *EXACTLY* does Smart Navigation work? (I would really really really like
for this Smart Navigation to work in Mozilla.)

The inner workings and the code is what I am looking for.

Does it use JavaScript? If so, is there any code that someone can point to.

And can the ASP.NET 2.0 team get this work in Mozilla....sort of targeting
multiple browser like they do with other stuff already....It would be a
really big boost to them, Microsoft not being viewed as ANTI-TRUST and
anti-competitive.

Thanks.

I should add that the Framework directory is under the windows(or winnt)
/microsoft.net directory

You might find what you're looking for in the
/aspnet_client/system_web/1_1_4322/SmartNav.js file.

Hope this helps,

Mun

JavaScript (SmartNav.js). It is downloaded to the client. Look at the source
when you are using SmartNav and you will see it in there.

The problem with multiple-browsers here is IE has smart nav (remembering
control hit) built in (albeit with help), NetScape does not. MS would have
to embed anchors for each control to accomplish the same in Mozilla.
Considering the small browser percent in NetScape, this is a case of
diminishing returns.

I looked at the SmartNav.js file. However, Mozilla seems like a pretty good
browser.

If you say IE has Smart Nav built in, why is that a SmartNav.js file in the
first place?

Built-in, but not psychic. The concept is like this:

MS will "remember" where you scrolled down to (ie, remembers the last
control worked on). For NetScape, you need to purposefully put anchor tags
in. The Smart Navigation has to be activated on the client, thus the reason
for having the JavaScript.

It has nothing to do with NetScape being a bad browser, just that NetScape
does not have certain items built in that simplify things.
