How does your HP 1020 sound?

Mr. Printer

I just bought this printer and am a little concerned that something may
be wrong with it. Rather than describing a strange sound I think it
easier if you listen to it, so I recorded a little wav file. The
soundtrack is from the printer wakes up till it finishes printing one
page. What I'm concerned about is the humming sound that your hear
doing the entire printing process.

If you have this printer or another laser printer for that matter,
please give me your opinion on whether this is normal or not, so I know
if I should return it.

Thank you in advance

Hi Mr. Printer,

Your printer sounds just like my HP LJ1020. I'm sorry I can't, with
confidence, tell
you what each sound is; only, that I've had my printer for almost a
year, works great,
and sounds like yours!

Cheers,

alex

Hi!

Your printer sounds *exactly* like my LaserJet 1012. So far my LJ1012 is
doing an excellent job of printing. I really don't find the noise that
unusual. It's just the sound of a motor running. The humming you hear may
simply be a by-product of the cycling power frequency that's found on any AC
power line. Some laser printers have used AC motors to do certain things, so
that's what I'm chalking it up to...

This is normal for the 1020 and other printers of this series. Nothing to be
concerned about.

Thanks a lot for the answers. It's nice to know that I have nothing
to worry about.
