How does someone delete URL's in the drop down address box using autocomplete?

I have attempted to delete URL's by clearing the history and cache.
That technique clears most of the addresses, but there are still a few
left. I have also tried using the regedit 'typedurls' and it does not
work.

When I begin typing 'www.c' in the IE 6.0 address box cnn.com appears
(after I have done everything in the above paragraph). I know I can
turn autocomplete off, but I like it on... but there are a few
addresses I would prefer to delete and not show up by autocomplete.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,
These URLs you're seeing are in the index.dat file in the History folder.

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ should be able to clear the History
and the index.dat file. Just check the appropriate boxes and run it.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:

Hope this helps,
