How does Save As work behind the scenes?

How does Save As work in MS Access when saving forms as a new form? Does it
copy them bit for bit like copying a file to a new file with a new name, or
take all the properties of the object and it's children objects and create
new ones from the definition of all the properties? I'm wondering if this
would be a good way to flush out possible corruption.

Thanks

Hi Moondaddy,

Thanks the reply from MVP Douglas J. Steele!

From your descriptions, I understood that you would like to make a backup
of your mdb files and then enhance the possibility to recovey data whenever
it corrupted. Correct me if I was wrong.

Based on my scope, the best way keeping the healthy of Access objects is
selecting a good backup strategy for mdb files. For example, using the
Windows Explorer, My Computer, Microsoft Backup, the MS-DOS copy command,
or other backup software, copy the database file (an .mdb file) to a backup
medium of your choice.
