How does Contributor permission work?

I have a simple form set up in a public folder, which would be used by
everybody to post to the folder, without being able to view the folder
contents (their own or others' posts).

The Contributor role permissions appear to suit the need, but with this
setting, users are not able to launch the form associated with the folder.

Apparently any workable permission would also grant users the right to read
the posts of others, which is not desirable.

The Contributor role does not work as advertised, or am I missing something?

If you don't want the folder and its contents to be visible, publish the form
to the Organizational Forms Library, and let the users pick it up from there.
See if the contributor role will allow the form to be posted, even though the
folder is not visible.

Thanks for the insight: it looks like the role is designed to work only with
forms published to the Org. Forms Library. I guess there is no workaround
for forms published to a public folder.
