I can use equation editor, but I can't change color or put it in a sentence.
I do this all the time in Word.

Word replaces 1/2 with a single character that looks like the fraction you
are used to. If you can find that fraction character, then you can set up
auto correct to do this for you in PowerPoint also.

For more complicated fractions, or if you don't want to look for the
characters, you can visit:

We have an article on our web site titled "Equation Editor Tips &
Tricks". Tip #23 describes how to change the color of an equation
in PPT. Note that you can't change the color of *part* of an
equation -- it's all or nothing. You can view this tip and the
other 24 tips here:

http://www.dessci.com/en/products/ee/ee_tips.htm

Also, PowerPoint doesn't let you "put it in a sentence" the way
Word does. This is a limitation of PowerPoint, but my tutorial on
"Using MathType with PowerPoint" offers a suggestion that will
make it easier to put the equation into your text. Although the
tutorial is intended for MathType users, some of the tips in the
tutorial are appropriate for both Equation Editor and MathType
users. The tutorial's here:

Thanks SO much. This color thing has driven me crazy! I'm getting Math Type
next week at a workshop, so your site will be very helpful. Thanks again.
