how do you update a report every time it is opened?

I am a new Access user and am having trouble getting a report to update every
time it is opened. I have tried to use the reguery command in the "on open
event, but this causes the record bound for the report to change.

Is there a way to requery a a report before it opens and not allow it to
lose its focus on a particular dataset?
 
Could you explain a little better? A report will always display the most
recent saved records at the time the report is opened.
