How do you turn off the sound that you hear when closing unsaved Microsoft
documenets? The Microsoft online help was good but did not solve the problem?

What sound? When do you hear it (after which keystroke(s) and/or buttons
being clicked)?

Start / Settings / Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Sounds tab and
select "No sounds" for the Sound scheme.

Alternatively, you can customise on the different events in the lower pane.

Thanks for all the suggestions! The problem was a bit more complicated than what I wrote. I know all of the ways to mute sound on a computer. The original problem occurred on a Windows 2000 machine and I solved the problem using a computer running Windows XP. Then I used what I found out on the 2000 machinwe. What I finally discovered was that after you change the sound settings on the play control, you must reboot on the 2000 machine but not on Windows XP.

Thanks again.
