How do you turn off background processes?

I'm wondering how to turn off certain background
processes that automatically load when you boot XP Home
(Pro). I don't need Drag'n Drop CD or Messenger to run in
the background all the time, and only want to load them
when I need them. I can't seem to find any settings in XP
to allow me to turn them off.

Can you help?

Richard

Hi Richard,

Check for an option to not having the icon load in the System Tray via the
program(s) in question.

Other options for removal:

Go to Start/Run and type in: msconfig. Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck
accordingly. Then run this script to remove the disabled items from the
registry.

Or...remove the runkeys from here: Start/Run/Regedit
