How do you switch off Auto Fill in Excel XP?

How do you switch off Auto Fill in Excel XP? I use
Validation a lot and the Auto Fill "smart" icon obscures
the drop-down arrow that operates the validation listbox.
 
To turn off the smart tags feature:

1. Choose Tools>Options
2. Select the Edit tab
3. Remove the check marks from 'Show Paste Options buttons'
and 'Show Insert Options buttons'.
4. Click OK
