I cant figure out how to start windows XP in safe mode and need to do so to install a program. Can anyone help? Please feel free to email me the answer at (e-mail address removed)

During the boot-up process, when it says something about pressing F8 for
startup options (I forget the exact words), press F8 key and you will be
presented with a menu which should be clear from there.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Try restarting the computer. Repeatedly press F5 or F8 to get the advanced
bootmenu. Then use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.

Some systems have the BIOS set to a "Quick boot" or "Rapid boot"option this
might hamper the process as the system is very quickly booting to Windows.
If this is the case access the BIOS and disable that setting. Be careful
when making changes to your BIOS Settings and only change what needs to be
changed

Hello,
If there is only one entry in the boot.ini under [operating systems], the
boot menu is not displayed and the system ignores the timeout=30 value.
The system just boots into the OS with no delay.
You can hit F8 at the very beginning rapidly and catch the Safe Mode boot
menu.
To make this easier you can add an entry to the boot.ini file [operating
systems] section.
The easiest way to that would be to open a CMD prompt ( start run CMD.exe)
from the command prompt run the following command
bootcfg /copy /id 1
This copies the first line under [operating systems] and replicates it.
This means when you boot up, you will be prompted to make a choice.
With one entry there is no choice so the OS just boots, with more than one
entry the OS stops for as long as the timeout value states to give you a
choice.
On this screen, there is text that states you can use the F8 key to go into
Safe Mode.
Thanks,
