I have a prs-203 printer server set up on a home network.
The prs-203 uses tcp/ip or netbeui for protocols, and has
a valid IP on the network. It works fine with the Win 98
computers, but the xp box cannot set up to use it.

The win9x computers can see the prs-203 in the network
neighborhood, but the xp cannot. I've tried the local
printer setup with the new connection set as standard
tcp/ip, but the system cannot send files to the printer
(s).

Any help would be appreciated.

When you add a Standard TCP/IP port, the default is to use the "RAW" (also
known as "Port 9100") protocol.

All of the information about (Cellvision or Starchip) prs-203 Print Servers
I could find where in a langauge I can't read, but it is possible that this
device only supports the LPR/LPD protocol.

To configure a Standard TCP/IP port to use LPR:

1. Open the Printers and Faxes folder
2. click File, Server Properties
3. select the Ports tab
4. select the port you want to configure
5. click Configure Port
6. in the Protocol frame, select the LPR radio button
7. key the Queue Name as in the device's documentation. A common Queue Name
for print server type devices is "TEXT" or "TEXT1".
8. click OK.
