how do you repair windows op system

i dowloded somthing which brought in a couple of trojan horse doppers. my norton told me about them but said it cannot do anything with them. i locted the bugs and got rid of them and a free trojan horse scan showed no more viruses. howere,,,,,my puter is acting a bit wierd. the sound keeps failing and i carnt turn my firewall on (error 5) and i get messages about svchost.exe. / generic host. is my computer slowly dieing or can i repair it with my os disc. obviously im a novice on a rarther steep learning curve so i would be greatfull for any help.

When you have,you can repair OS by inserting your disc and follow the instructions, come back if you fail.
