Kenexa Prove It Testing
Kenexa makes tests for employers to assess skills in many different areas (including software) called "Prove It". I don't know how you can pass it, as I've still been unable to even take the three tests for a potential employer. I'm a Mac user and my computer met the listed system requirements, but it wouldn't work. Calling tech support, I was told, "Only use a PC using the IE browser." I asked why it said it'd work on a Mac if it doesn't and was told to forget what it stated on the site - use only a Windows-based PC and only IE. All my friends/family have Macs. So I decided to go to a public library. Their PC didn't work, either (froze during first question), so off I go tomorrow to the potential employer's office to use one of their machines.
The whole thing seems a colossal waste of time, especially since the job has nothing to do with Excel and the interviewer acknowledged that fact. "We just want an idea how familiar you are with a computer," I was told. Well, you wouldn't know it by my non-existent Excel skills, so I doubt I'll get this position. It doesn't matter that I've been on computers most of my life, especially in graphics (Photoshop) and web design.
