How do you make deleted files go away?

My virus scan takes forever because of the number of
temporary internet files on my computer. I have deleted
tham the generic way through the properties tab but they
must still be on the hard drive. Please tall me that
there is a way to make them go away.

The two most common methods of deleting TIFs is by running the
cleaning manager - start button, programs, accessories, system tools,
disk cleanup. Or control panel, internet options, general tab, delete
files (also delete offline content).

You also need to empty your recycle bin from time to time. Although
restore points don't come under the category of temporary files, they
can take up quite a bit of space since the default is a percentage of
the drive.

Depending on the length of "forever", you could just leave your virus
scan to work overnight.
