How do you get the web site to stop asking the users for password.

I have posted a WORD document to my FP website, but everytime a user clicks
the link to open it, they get prompted for a password. if they say "cancel"
it opens just fine, but that is confusing people, so I would like to not have
it prompt at all. How do I do it and what is causing it to prompt everyone?

The cause is this: Word and Office are set up as "collaboration" tools.
When you open a document on a web site they will try to open it in
READ/WRITE mode because the default assumption is the user is part of a
working group that can edit the document.

When Word encounters a document that the user does not have permission to
edit (which covers most situations I think) the user gets rejected.

You can either get your users to upgrade to the latest Service Pack for
Office (which fixes this problem) or present your documents in a way the
user downloads them. In PDF format, or zip them, or simply instruct them to
right-click and download.

This is _not_ a server issue, it's an issue from how the user's computer is
trying to handle the document. You can't fix it, you can only work around
it. (Unless they are all on your network and you can go around and install
the proper patches for Office.)
