How do you get the H264 decode acceleration and the "Converter"

When I try to find them on the ATI site all I get are info links.
Is there anything to download to get it working? I would
really like to see this 80% faster transcoding they are talking
about.

I just installed a X1600 on an ASUS A8N-E running XP Pro 64.
It is setup as an HTPC, and those features would be great. (If I
can only figure out how to get them working.)

Ok, I re-installed the converter and it seems to be working, but
I don't see any way, to transcode, to mp4. at full main profile
dimensions, much less any HD resolutions.

Does anyone know if there are any other encoding programs that
can use this hardware acceleration? Or is there any source for other
profiles than those supplied, (wish they had provided a "custom" option
so that I could describe a profile of my own.)

I downloaded the 1.0.0.1 version that can do AVI H264, and is
blazingly fast. It appears to only use the CPU, and the Cobra
engine, though; (but that is using it with an R x850XT PE) It might
do better on an X1xxx card, I'll try tomorrow. What it is producing
now has some playback problems. It is converting my MPEG-2, to
H264 AVI in about 6 min. (It takes an hour and a half, with my other
encoders ) These are 42 min. TV episodes.

using ati 1900xt aiw here...

windows vista will play those h26x files

I noticed this conversion feature is removed in the new 6.6 catalyst.

The order of install is critical for their software.

I found a separate download for the current one on the
ATI site, and had to install it twice to get it on the CCC
basic page. I just checked the site to try and find that
download but had no luck, I remember it took some
looking the first time also. I'll go back and try again so
that I can post a link.

OK, this is the XP Radeon 6.6 download page
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=21793
the converter is mixed in with the Parental control
download.

I didn't see a download for it on the 64 Bit XP page,
but I am using this one (I think) with the 64Bit Cat 6.6.
(I don't have the WDM integrated Driver installed.)

Darn, the link didn't work right. What you want is the 6.6 driver
page for Windows XP, it is in the "Additional Downloads"
