how do you get page transitions to work on frontpage?

I have put page transitions on my website, but they don't work.
Any reasons why? Any way round it?

Thanks

In IE, choose Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and then under Browsing,
select Enable Page Transitions. It's the 11th check box.

Note, however, that:

o This only enables pages transitions on your computer.
o There's no way to be sure that page transitions will be enabled on your
visitors' computers.
o Page transitions slow down the site because IE must receive and render
the whole next page before starting the transition effect.
o Browsers other than iE don't support page transitions.
