in this folder in startup it says that AVG is not yet classified. First
what does "not yet classified mean? and how do you get it to allow? I am
new at this program so i am trying to figure this out.
thanks
robin

Microsoft has not yet analyzed this program and verified it. That's what comes in the periodic updates.
It doesn't mean something is wrong ... just that Microsoft hasn't gotten around to verifying it yet.

If you notice, when looking at Running Programs, some svchost.exe entries:

RPC,SSDP,Windows Audio, Background Intelligent Transfer Service, Cryptographic Services, DHCP Client, Logical Disk Manager, Error Reporting Service, COM+ Event System, Fast User Switching Compatibility, Help and Support, HID Input Service, Server, Workstation, Network Connections, Network Location Awareness (NLA), Removable Storage, Remote Access Connection Manager, Task Scheduler, Secondary Logon, System Event Notification, Shell Hardware Detection, System Restore Service, Telephony, Themes, Distributed Link Tracking Client, Windows Time, Windows Management Instrumentation, Security Center, Automatic Updates

are 'not classified' as well as Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer.

ok, ty, i was just concerned that it would not let avg in or consider it spyware but it is behaving when avg goes out to the internet for its own updates.

You the user have no control any more. If it was spyware and you let it in
befor MS rates it too bad you can't change your mind its up to them not you.
Want control use BETA 1 and demand it be suported not replaced with this new
junk.

That's not actually true. I have had applications on the system prior to
Defender installation that had not be classified, and still stayed not yet
classified for a while even after Beta 2.

They now show classified ... took a while ... but they have become
classified.
