See this article for a possible work-around:
How to Enter FTP Site Password in Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135975/en-us
interesting.
The workaround with changing the \ applies to me. I changed the "@"
and "."s in the username to %40 and %2E respectively.
I actually cannot know if it works because there may be a problem with
the ftp server. But it didn`t give an error, and it gives the nothing
that any other ftp client gives. So I think it worked.
thanks.
The other workaround mentioned,
Logging on without specifying user/pass did not apply since
I cannot just go to the site without giving IE a user/pass, because
then IE won`t prompt me for one, because IE will log on anonymously,
and the ftp server lets me log on anonymously, but without write
access. That is why I want to log on with my user/pass
