you 'free up disk space by deleting temp/excess files'
so here is a 'routine to run' - ie
1/
defragmentation needs 15% free space to run and it is
good idea to get in habit of 'routine of running'
first chkdsk.exe/checkdisk/
then defrag
then delete temp files and cookies
and should keep your disk clean and org'd
a/
first - chkdsk.exe/checkdisk/gui ver - in tools - ie
go start/right click - my computer/open/
go right click - local disk/properties/
go tools tab/
go 'error checking section'/click - 'error chk now'/
click on - 'both options' - on dialog box/
ans 'yes' - to sched reboot/
reboot
b/
or - command line ver - in command prompt window - ie
open 'command prompt window'/
go - enter 'chkdsk /f' - on command line/
note
ans 'yes - to sched reboot'/
reboot
c/
then you can run 'defrag.exe' - ie
note
use same section/page as in 'a/' above - ie
go start/right click - my computer/open/
go right click - local disk/properties/
go tools tab/
go 'defragmentation' section/click-'defragment now'/
and
d/
delete temp/excess files - ie
go start/control panel/network and internet connections/
go internet options/general tab/
go temporary internet files section/
go delete files/
go delete cookies/
go ok/
2/
you can get results of 'chkdsk' - ie
go start/control panel/perf..and maint/admin tools/
go event viewer/application log/
go - scroll to winlogon/ go open/
and
take it fr there
