I teach High School and am looking for a way to give tests that will grade
automatically. I created a web page that I use to give assignments and
communicate with my classes. I am currently hyperlink Excel spreadsheets
with locked (protected) cells that use nested functions for my students to
take tests and to dermine the scores. The save it on the network and I open
each one to grade. The problem is I have to open each file and unpretect it
to see the score. There's got to be a better way. Any ideas?

If you have any programming skills take a look at using a Database and server side scripting such as ASP/PHP or ASP.NET (steeper
learning curve)

Please tell me you don't teach English. Normally, I would not have
mentioned this because I feel to do so is bad manners. I feel more
strongly that a student's perception of a teacher's knowledge is
important; especially a professor.

I apologize for my manners but consider using the spell check function
when compiling your assignments and tests.

Andy thanks for the input. I have a habit of multitasking and keying text
when my classes are in session. I am a stickler about my work and also
cringe when errors pop up in someone else's text. And no, I teach computer
applications/life skills. I also write a gardening column for the newspaper
- 800 to 1000 words every two weeks. Thanks again.

Consider yourself lucky that Professor Buff is indeed from an
English-speaking country, and a good sport!

In the realm of criticism, let me just point out that if a criticism is not
necessary or relevant to a discussion, it is simply rude. One must question
the motive of the criticizer.

Please don't take MY criticism as rudeness. This is a public forum, and
Netiquette is certainly relevant, while grammar is not, unless it impedes
the understanding of the reader.
