how do you cover a backround when there is a text

I'm assuming that you want to hide the background which is on the master
slide, but maybe that is not what you mean. Go to Format | Background and
click in the box which says Omit background graphics from master. If this
isn't what you mean post back and explain your problem more fully.

Depending on how the background was added to the master Rae's solution may or
may not work (If its done with format > background on the master it won't!)

Try this: If your text is light give the text box a black fill and set
transparency to about 25% in more fill colors. This way the backround is
visible but won't interfere. For dark text try a semi transparent white fill
or maybe just experiment with other colors)
