How do you configure you hard drives into partitons

I want to erase my hard drive so that I can reprogram my
system. When I first got my windows XP, I messed up my
system and it has not been the same.

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage Make the new partition for the system and third party programs of
an appropriate size (somewhere I'd suggest in the 8 to 16 GB range
depending on how big the disk is.

Once the system is running make further partition(s) at Control Panel -
Admin Tools - Computer Management, select Disk Management and look lower
right for the graphic of the drive.. R-click in Unallocated space and
Create Partition. See discussion on planning at
