I am looking to solve a problem that I am having with
Windows 2000. I have recently upgraded a Windows NT stand-
alone server to windows 2000 and administrative
permissions set up allowing users from a domain access to
the server no longer work. I have tried setting these
permissions back up but I am restricted by the number of
characters that I can use (default limit of windows 2000
is 20 characters for a username) however I require this
to be 25. Can you tell me how I can change this in
Windows 2000 (as the Server is a stand alone server I can
not use Group Policies)

Daniel

If you're referring to the pre-Windows 2000 name then the 20 character limit
is imposed for backwards compatibility reasons. For the regular user logon
name I am able to create a name longer than 20 characters using the UI.
