How do we make Macs talk to the AD?

Hi,

We have a few Macs in our network. Right now, they all have their own local
usernames and passwords. We want Macs to join our AD domain, use AD user
accounts and passwords and mount to our network drives. How do we do this?
I'd appreciate some pointers. Thanks.

Hi Sam!

If you'll go to Apple's website <http://www.apple.com> and use the
search at the bottom of the homepage for "Active Directory", you should
see some PDFs with some ideas for how to start.

You can also use a third party application (easier but more expensive)
call ADmitMac <http://www.thursby.com/products/admitmac.html>. If you
have just a few Macs, this may be ideal for you.

www.MacOSXLabs.org is also a good resource and you'd probably be
interested in this webcast from last March
<http://www.macosxlabs.org/webcasts/2004-03-16_ActiveDirectory/>.

Many other sources are available just for searching but these should
whet your appetite.

Hope this helps! bill
