Do you mean that you want to automatically log onto your user account,
effectively going directly to the Desktop? If that's what you want to know,
the instructions at this link work for both XP and Vista:

Configure Windows to Automatically Login (MVP Ramesh) -
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

If you wanted something different, post back with more details so we don't
have to guess.

Go start > Type netplwiz and hit enter.
Confirm the user account message.
Select your username from the list, then UNCHECK the box at the top that
says "users must enter username and password"
Press OK.
If prompted to, enter your username and password.
You will not be asked to loggon, but because you have a password you can
still lock your screen, and log off (although a reboot will log you back on)

"CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2", doesn't work for me under Vista SP1 (I'm sure it
did before SP1!!, maybe it was a dream!)

HiBlack_13,

This tutorial will show you how to turn off this screen so that you can
have Vista logon to a user account of your choice at startup.

Hope this helps,

sorry i should have been more specific.
what i was hoping to hide/disable is turn off the screen that would
come after running the
the command shutdown -r -t 0 or shutdown -r -t 0.
this screens has the following and animated cursor with the words
"Logging off" then "Shuting down"
with "Windows Vista Ultimate" at the bottom of the screen.

thanks
