How do OEM's enter their names in XP's "System Information"?

When an OEM builds a puter the "System Information" in Windows lists the
company name. Now on the puter I built- in XP-Home when I look at "System
Information" there are 2 lines- ""System Manufacturer" and "System Model"
with the description: "To be filled by system manufacturer". I'd like to
"sign" my work by entering something here. I did a search through the
registry for the key terms with no luck. Where do I find the key to
enter/change this data? Or is this done in my BIOS? Does anyone do this, or
is it just very anal-retentive bulls**t?

You can add a picture using oeminfo.bmp and that text using oeminfo.ini to
the \windows\system32 folder. I'd suggest editing the oeminfo.ini file if
you want to change those lines.

Hi Michael- unfortunately there are no oeminfo.* files in the Windows folder
at all. Thanks anyway.

Mine are in \system32 directory. Just make some up and rename them.
OEMinfo.ini

[General]
Manufacturer=Dad! Computers
Model=Colossus
SupportURL=
LocalFile=

The other file is OEMlogo.bmp.
It will show up in the first, General tab of System
in control panel. My logo is a full color bmp of a nuclear test blast.

As I recall I put a link in my son's computer for Support that brings up a text
file that says roughly IIRC "I done it the way I done it and you'll just have to
live with it!".

Have fun with it!

that will work on the 'system properties' summary which is kewl, but I
think he's talking about the 'system information' window

I was, but this is good and seems to be as close as you get.

Thanks to all.
