How do install the Direct Play Voice setup - microphone

I am trying to use a microphone to record sounds however
no sound is recorded.
A diagnostic check indicated that the Direct Play Voice
Setup file "Dpvsetup.exe" has not been installed.
I can find a file "Dpvsetup.ex_" on my Windows XP CD but I
can't figure out how to find the executable file and get
it installed.
Can someone please help me?
