I am taking an algebra course but can not figure out how
to use the windows calculator to solve problems. Can
someone help me?

thank you

Charlie

The calculator in Windows XP is not designed to solve
algebraic expressions. In order to be successful in learning
algebra, you'll have to solve the problems manually following
the examples in your test book.

I seriously doubt that you'll be permitted to use any type
of computer when test time rolls around.

The power toy calculator is an algaberic calculator. Of course none of these are symbolic algebraic calculators. They are big expensive programs.

Windows calculator can do pasted equations. See Help. Though unlikely to be useful as very basic.

The Windows calculator can be set to scientific mode and
works well. But you can buy a modern Texas Instruments Ti
83 (or other models) and use the handheld along with your
computer and Ti also has emulators, so you can used you
keyboard and monitor while you learn the techniques.

Because as I read the thread and assuming that the OP would
read the answers and rather than scroll back to the OP post,
I used reply group on the last post I looked at. You know
it wasn't intended for you...it was in fact a general
informative post about the subject.

If you insist on having a perfect thread with all posts as a
reply to the person rather than the subject, please so state
in each of your posts so we can all know that you are
worried about being either considered to be the person with
the problem rather than the person with the answer.

Why did you reply to me rather than the original poster?

No I don't insist.

Was just curious were you picking a fight or not. Would assume so except it was from you - so thought I'd ask.

I've got a tooth with a pain, didn't mean to be snappy.

I just reply to the thread subject line (usually).
