My friend and i would like to connect to each others computers (250 miles apart) Both PC's have broadband connections, and both use Sygate firewall Pro (ICF disabled on both pc's

How do we go about doing this? Point us in the right direction..

Thanks

You need to configure ZA to forward/open TCP Port 3389. Call using the public IP, ie. the IP
assigned by the ISP.

I forgot to add that you really do not need to setup a VPN if you only want to use Remote Desktop.
If, however, you do want to use a VPN and run Remote Desktop through the VPN tunnel, then look at
these two pages...

You would need to configure ZA to forward/open TCP Port 1723 and enable GRE Protocol 47 traffic.
Consult the ZA documentation or the support web pages for further help with that...

RDP:
Open port 3389 on both firewalls

VPN: Open port 1723 on both firewalls

Load the Remote Desktop Connection

If you are tunnelling RD through VPN (PPTP type) then you should not need to
open port 3389 on the firewall for internet access (you will need it for
local access however)

To use a PPTP VPN you not only have to open and forward TCP port 1723 but
you will need to open and forward GRE (IP protocol 47) also.

Does anyone know how to open and forward GRE (IP protocol 47) with Norton
Internet Security?

thanks
