I am using windows 2000 professional.
That has nothing to do with it. What version of Outlook? What options
appear on that page?
In the advanced options the only
reference is called - automatic name checking. This is ticked, but i
don't know what it does. Any advise?
Automatic name checking is the function whereby you type the first three
characters of an address in a recipient and then tab out of the field.
Outlook will attempt to resolve the address automatically from the address
book, solidly underlining the resolved address if it is unique and wavy
underlining it if multiple matches are found. You can then choose the
correct name by right-clicking the partial name and choosing from the
presented complete names. Outlook 2000 and upward (and earlier versions as
well, I seem to recall) have this feature. The "predictive" function you
referenced in the original post seems to be autoresolution, as I said.
