when i try to use an mp3 i get an error message saying ppt
cannot play mp3 files. make sure it is a wav file and
check sys config. i have office xp and 2003, win media
player 9, etc but no luck.

Are you trying to use the sound file as a transition sound or attached to an
animation? If so, you can only use WAV's. To use an MP3 you'll need to use
Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from File.

ok, now i get it. i was doing it on the transition and not
as an insert. sure is better to use a 1.4 meg file instead
of a 14 meg.

i took the wav file off of the transition and did as you
suggested. now the song starts with the show but the
slides don't automatically play. it gets stuck on the
first one.

.
Use Insert, then Movies and Sounds, then Sound from
File... to insert the MP3 file.

Check out if this work for you.
