how do i unlock a document?

im trying to insert a slide into a presentation but nothings happens. it
seems that my presentation is locked. How do I unlock it?
 
You might check the properties in Windows Explorer. Open My Documents,
navigate to your file, right-click it, and choose Properties. Is "read only"
checked?
 
Slides should insert into read only presentations (but not save).
If the show has a password then slides will not insert.
-- When you say nothing happens is that what you mean or do you get a blank
inserted slide?
