how do I uncompress?

i have just got an executable file which is compressed-
how can i uncompress it? thanks if anyone knows-
appreciated.

I use winzip so I never tried this but here goes,

Right click on the compressed file,and scroll down to
"open with" and then select "compressed (zipped) folders"
and click on it, this should revel the install file as
well as read me.

If it's an executable (*.exe), then it can only be executed !

Double click the file, it will most likely give you a dialogue box (with a
cancel button).
Said dialogue box will have a default location where to uncompress to, this
will probably be to a 'temp'-folder (if it's a device driver) or to the
location where you are now. Said default location can be changed. (See other
options in dialogue-box, they vary slightly).
