How do I go about Un-Activating one of my Windows XPs. I
bought one and used it for about a mounth and then I
bought my new Dell. So I'm wanting to sell the computer
I put together along with the Windows XP that was
activated on that computer. I have already formated the
hard drive and I'm ready to sell it but Windows has been
activated so I need to find out how or who to contact to
take care of this.

Thanks,
Jason

If I get this right, you're going to give the buyer the
copy of XP along with the computer you are selling. If
that's they case, don't worry about de-activating the
software. XP locks itself to a computer configuration not
to an owner. When the new owner installs the software, he
or she will have to activate it again. XP will activate
again with no problems as long as the configuration hasn't
been drastically changed.

Whenever I sell a PC, I always reformat my HD and do a full re-install of
the operating system first. That way, any personal info is erased, and the
buyer gets a freshly installed OS with no glitches.

The buyer should not have to worry about activation unless she/he makes some
significant hardware changes. Just make sure the buyer gets the OS CD along
with the PC.

De-activation is neither needed nor possible. Activation ties XP
to the computer, not to you. Just sell the computer with XP. If
its necessary to reactivate, either you or the buyer can do so.
