How do I tweak an ICC profile?

I have profiles that are very close but not right on. I can see from a
scan and print of an IT8 target where the problems are, but I don't know
how to change them. I do not have a copy of Photoshop but I do have
Elements. I am on a Mac G4 PowerBook and also have VueScan,
GraphicConverter and possibly other programs. Any suggestions?

Best of all, is there any free software that will allow editing an ICC color
profile?

I have one that's mostly right but needs the gradation changed to make the
midtones a tad darker.

lcms (little color management system). Google for it. Note that it is not
gui wrapped and lacks some user functionality. Been thinking about
addressing that, but my plate always seems to be overflowing as it is......
<sigh>

Dunno about anything else.
