Greetings Lawka,

To fully remove Windows Messenger 4.x, close down Messenger if it's running (right click the
messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start
button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

Hi,

This applies to Windows Messenger 4.0 or Later on a
Windows XP Professional-Based Computer:

Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then press
ENTER.

Double-click the following items to expand them:

Local Computer Policy
Computer Configuration
Administrative Templates
Windows Components
Windows Messenger

Double-click Do not allow Windows Messenger to run, and
then click Enabled.
Click OK, and then quit the Group Policy snap-in.

If the above process solves your problem, then you can
always say thanks to me at (e-mail address removed).
