How do I turn OFF automatic download of e-mail.

A software program has requested that I turn off the auto
download or e-mail before I continue with the install. I
am unable to figure how to do this. Does anyone know how
to do it?
 
Not 100% sure, as haven't tried it. but you could try
opening outlook > Tools > Options > in the General tab,
uncheck the 'Send and receive messages at stratup'
and 'Check for new messages every..' hope it works
