I was told that my computer works faster if I turn off the indexing in
the background. Can you please tell me how to turn it off? I'm using WIN
XP Pro...........I have so many things that must run in the background,
my HD light is on a lot, and I can't use the computer many times when
that is going on. I can't even do a Ctrl Alt Del, to see what is going
on. It locks out my computer. Any info on that is
appreciated..........Peter

Hello Peter
I can tell you how to stop it, but, I have not done enough research to be
able to tell you if it is good or bad. You might do a google search on it.
www.google.com

go to the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, open Computer
Management, expand Services and Applications, right click Indexing Service,
click on Stop.

If you use the NTFS format then right click your hard drive icon in the My
Computer window and select Properties. Uncheck the box at the bottom to
disable indexing.
