I have patched the hard drive from my laptop into a desk top and wish to
upload all outlook files into the outlook on the desk top. On Windows 2000
outlook files were located C/Windows/Applications/Data... I cannot find the
files in Windows XP.

The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup or transfer:

http://www.howto-outlook.com/Howto/backupandrestore.htm

In XP and Win2k your pst is stored in a hidden folder that can be unhidden
from folder options menu. Or you can just type the path
C:\documents and settings\PROFILE NAME\local settings\application
data\Microsoft\Outlook

Russ, Thanks for your help. I used the link on how to outlook and was able
to retrieve and manually move my files to thier appropiate folders in my new
outlook. i am having a problem deleting the old personal folders from my
list. i keep getting a message saying " the set of folders could not be
opened. The server is not available. contact your administrator if this
condition persist" do you know how to get rid of this. everything seems to
be working fine in the inbox ,conact list and sent items. I just would like
to see if I could delete it from my list of folders

If you transferred the data and configured the transferred PST file to be
the default correctly, you only need to R click and close the previous set
of folders. If you did not, then you have a corrupt Outlook profile and will
need to create a new one.
If you can remember the exact steps you used, I can probably figure out what
went wrong.

Um, in general, no they weren't. Windows 2000 uses the same path structure
as Windows XP. WHat you describe is the Windows 98 path.
I cannot find the files in Windows XP.

drive:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook is the default path for both Windows 2000 and Windows
XP.
