hi all. I just purchased a new computer. my old computer was running office
03 with outlook 2003 as my email program. I'm wanting to transfer all my
settings and messages from my old computer to my new one which is running the
newest version of outlook express that comes standard with vista. When i did
the file and settings transfer it did transfer over the .pst files from
outlook but its not showing up in the new outlook express. any input would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daniel

2 obvious mistakes:
1. Never use Windows Easy Transfer to transfer Outlook data. It does not
work.
2. Outlook and Outlook Express (now Windows Mail on Vista) are completely
unrelated programs. You cannot use the data from one with the other. If you
want to transfer data between programs, you must have them both installed on
the same partition and use the Import or Export functions in the respective
program to transfer data from one program to the other.

so you are saying that there is no way to do this?

No. I am saying that you must first transfer your Outlook data to your
Outlook installation on Vista. Once you do, you can then transfer it to
Windows Mail. Windows Mail can import your message information directly from
Outlook. It cannot import your Contacts data, however, so you will have to
export your Contacts data to a file format that Windows Mail can import,
such as CSV.
