How do I sync my email on the desktop and laptop PCs?

I want to have my Vista Windows Mail on the desktop synchronized with
the Vista Windows Mail on the laptop. They are connected
via a wireless router. That is, I want to download my email on "either"
machine,
and "automatically" have the other PC reflect the same files. When I go on a
trip,
the laptop will have all the current email files. When I get home, I want
the desktop
and laptop to automatically sync so that both PCs have exactly the same
historical email files.
I can do this manually, but it sure would be a pain to remember which
PC downloaded which email on any given day. Surely that is a way to have
both
PCs email updated automatically.

THANKS,
Gene

You need to set up both machines to leave a copy of messages on the server,
that way both get the same/all incoming mail. Set one of the machines to
delete messages from the server after a sensible number of days, or your
mail box will fill up.
Tools>accounts>select account>properties>Advanced Tab. (both PC's)!

Sent items is more complicated, either do it manually or get a little
program called OEX
http://www.oehelp.com/OEX/Default.aspx (not free)

THANKS, Steve.

You are a gentleman & a scholar!!!

When I set BOTH PCs to save the incoming email at the server,
everything worked just fine. I was really only concerned ~ missing
an incoming email - and this seems to fix that. I can remember to sync
all the outgoing, NP. I set the delete date to the max of 100 days, so
that will take care of any extended vacation, after winning the lotto.

Again, THANKS for your kind assistance.

Depending on how much mail/Spam you receive, 100 days might lead to problems
with your ISP?
Consider reducing that setting?
I set at 21 days, since I do not enter the Lotto, that is suffice for any
break that I might get :-)
Pleased that you are sorted.

This information is very helpful to me. I am also trying to figure out how
to synch my Outlook Calendar and Contacts on my Vista laptop and my XP
desktop. Does anyone have any solution for that?
