How do I stop the mouse scroll wheel from advancing slides

I have done a 'Package for CD' on a presentation, using Powerpoint 2007, and
selected 'Browsed at a kiosk' for the Show type. However, when the CD is run
on another computer, the mouse scroll bar is still able to advance the
slides. I don't want this to happen, because I have inserted a hyperlinked
'Next' button for some slides, and an auto-advance after a certain time on
others. I also have linked sound files which run over several slides.

I have heard that this was a problem in Powerpoint 2003, which was fixed by
Service Pack 2. I have just downloaded Service Pack 1 for the 2007 version,
but this hasn't helped.
 
- Select All slides
- Go to Animations tab
- Uncheck ON MOUSE CLICK (far right on ribbon)
- Be sure AUTOMATICALLY AFTER is not checked
- Save and only hyperlinks or manual slide number + enter will advance
slides
 
Thanks Troy, but this didn't really help.
Let me explain - I am using the presentation as a training resource for
other people to use using the powerpoint Viewer. Some of my audience have
literacy problems so I find the powerpoint platform really useful for this
purpose. I have one presentation file which is the contents page and then 10
other section files hyperlinked to this. Some of these files have up to 30
slides in each. I'm using linked voice over narrations for each slide and
some quite complex animations which make the presentation interactive for the
user.
I have unchecked the ON MOUSE CLICK transitions but still need to have some
slides that automatically advance after a set period of time.
When I view my project in the slideshow view the scroll wheel is not active,
but when I create a 'Package for CD' version the scroll wheel is active and
the user can scroll through each slide. This makes all the animations and
voice overs not work as intended.
The deadline for my project is fast approaching!
Is there anything else that you can suggest?
Any assistance is much appreciated.

I have been using 2003 for a number of years and have created similar
interactive projects using the Package for CD tool without any problems
whatsoever. But when I tried to 'Package for CD' this particular presentation
(which was originally created in Powerpoint 2003) for some reason many of the
hyperlinked files wouldn't open in the Viewer and went to a black screen and
sometimes just locked up my computer. I'm not sure if it's something to do
with the complexities of my animations. I also tried to do the 'package for
CD' on 2 other computers running 2003 with the same result to proove it
wasn't my computer. Anyway when I changed over to 2007 and burnt the
presentation via 'package for CD' everything seemed to work really well -
great I thought - until I discovered the new problem with the scroll wheel
being active.
Anyway I have downloaded the 2003 viewer as you suggested and have tried to
open some of the files from my project in it (without burning it to CD
again). The same thing seemed to happen as it did when I burnt on 2003 as
before. The simple files without many links or animations will open but with
missing elements (text), and other more complicated files won't open at all -
just a black screen.
I just can't send out copies of the project to people with the risk that
they will use the scroll wheel and miss important information in the training
resource and just not view it the way it was designed.
So I'm afraid that your suggestion doesn't seem to be the answer either.
Can we keep troubleshooting on this PLEASE!

IIRC, this is a bug in the Viewer that doesn't affect PowerPoint itself.

I don't know of any way to prevent the scrollwheel from working in the viewer,
but if you have control of the computers, you can always plug in a mouse that
doesn't HAVE a scrollwheel. Brute force. Low tech. Effective. ;-)
 
Kath, could you email me a sample file or two -- ones that scroll when you
use Package for CD in 2007 and display badly (missing text, etc.) or won't
open (black screen) with the PPT 2003 Viewer. If you can include a couple of
the problem hyperlinked files that won't open, too, that would be great.
