I have many >5 Mb attachments in my sent mail and archive sent mail
folders. As I understand it there is no facility to afterwards strip
the attachment but keep the mail.

So how do I change my Outlook 2003 settings so that I do not save the
attachment when sending mail?

regards,

Beemer

To strip the attachment open the message from your Sent Items folder
rightclick the attachment and choose Remove. Save and close the message.

You can open the message, delete the attachment, and re-save the message
(file/save).

I do not see any "remove" in Outlook 2003.

When I delete the attachment per your advice the email disappears
immediately without giving the chance to save?

Open the message first; do not do this from the Reading Pane

Robert,

I want to delete very large attachments of emails in my sent item
folder. You have advised me how to do this. To find large attachments
I look in the "Search folders/large email" The problem is that when I do
this the emails are sorted by the email size and not the attachment
size.

Can I make a new field which I can use to sort on attachment size?

Okay and thanks so now I can delete the attachments. However how do I
set Outlook 2003 so that the attachment does not get saved with the
email in the Sent folder?

You can't. There is no automatic way to strip the attachments from messages
stored in Sent Items.

Brian,

Thanks for the head-up reply. I state the obvious.. but any 25Mb
attachment, (as an extreme example such as a Photoshop or CAD file but
still possible with my ISP) will result in the two files totalling 50Mb.
