How do I stop mail from going to WM along with my new WLM?

With my new WLM, I discovered that all my non-Hotmail Email is piling up in
WM. It is becoming cluttered and troublesome to delete because of volume. Any
solution? Can it be set to delete when deleted from WLM? Thanks Wayne

WM should not be running unless you manually start it.
Check your Start menu/All Programs/Startup folder to make sure it isn't present there.

Gary - Unchecked "Enable Access to this Program" for WM and it did the trick.
I had hoped to have it there to store some mail, though. Thanks, Wayne

Thanks Gary. The heat is affecting my thought processes. How do I stop WM?

If it is running...

perform a CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to initiate Taskmgr
and under Processes find WinMail.exe and click on it,
and then click the End Process button

To prevent it running automatically after boot up...

Click Start Orb
Click All Programs
Select Startup folder
Ensure there is no Windows Mail entry.

Julian and Gary - Actually , I didn't want to disable WM. I had old mail on
it that I needed to look at from time to time. But everytime I opened it the
floodgates opened and flooded me with mail. All i wanted was a way to stop
this. Thanks anyway, Wayne

That's easily done.

Tools > Options > General
untick "Send and Receive messages at startup" box

Hopefully, you also unchecked Check for mail every xx minutes.
You can also Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, uncheck Include this
account.

The big question is why is WM getting flooded with mail?
Do you have WLM set to 'leave a copy on the server'?
You must have it set or you would be saying that WM is downloading mail and
WLM is not getting the mail.

That's good, but I'm no genius.

I missed the very good points that Ron has just made about
stopping WM from polling the server, not leaving downloaded
messages on the server, and not checking the account by default.
