How do I start off with a clean install of Win XP?

O

I am trying to wipe everything out of my hard drive but
cannot seem to figure it out. I would like a clean
install of Win XP Pro, which I am runnning right now,
that will delete all files from my hard drive. Is this
even possible? I have tried reformatting my hard drive
but can't. Do I need to reformat my hard drive in DOS?
How do I log off of XP to get to DOS? I'm a little bit
over my head on this project and would love some help.
Thanks in advance!

Boot from your XP CD. You should then be able to delete the current
partition and format a new one.

You need to set your system BIOS to boot from the CD. When you boot from
the CD, you will find the options to format and so on.

Create a Windows 98 startup disk and use it to delete your current
partition(s) and then reformat. Lots of places on the web to get a copy of
the Win 98 startup disk.
Try bootdisk.com.

Just set the BIOS to boot from the CD, boot to the CD and
select install, follow the directions to delete all the
current partitions and go from there.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of
the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

You do it as part of a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD
direct. Enter Setup, and after the license agreement take New Install.
When it asks you to confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the
current partition and make a new RAW one to be formatted at the next
stage

The important point is the delete. Without that it will just go ahead
and make a new install over the top of the old one
